Chris Jericho To Face Sammy Guevara On Upcoming AEW Dynamite

Chris Jericho has agreed to face Sammy Guevara on an upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite while they also plan to remain a tag team.

The first episode of AEW Dynamite in October 2019 saw the company’s first World Champion Chris Jericho form a new stable called The Inner Circle with Jake Hager, Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara.

Ever since that first episode of Dynamite, Jericho and Sammy have been allies. Even when The Inner Circle ended as a group, Sammy would re-join Jericho again as part of the Jericho Appreciation Society group.

When the Jericho Appreciation Society disbanded recently, Sammy said that he’ll still remain loyal to Jericho, who has been a friend and mentor to Guevara, who is a former TNT Champion.

Chris Jericho And Sammy Guevara Agree To Match On AEW Dynamite

This past week on AEW Dynamite, Jericho & Sammy picked up a win over Aussie Open. However, during the match, Jericho accidentally hit Sammy twice. Sammy didn’t like that, so when Jericho wanted to celebrate, Sammy pushed him away and Jericho was frustrated about it.

On last night’s episode of AEW Rampage, which was taped after Dynamite, Chris Jericho left his commentary position to talk to Sammy Guevara where they had this exchange.

Sammy: “You’re pissing me off and I want to punch you in the face.”

Jericho: “It’s funny you say that. I want to punch you in the face, too.”

Sammy: “I want to punch you right now.”

Jericho: “Let’s be honest here. We’re obviously getting on each other’s nerves and that’s okay because we’re brothers. We’re on our way to becoming AEW World Tag Team Champions but we still can’t seem to get over this little bit of animosity. We need to get this out of our system. Do you agree?”

Sammy: “I agree.”

Jericho: “So why don’t we have a match against each other.? That way we can get all this crap out of our system.”

Sammy: “Now the question is where do you want to do that?”

Jericho: “How about one of the biggest shows in AEW history? New York City. Grand Slam.”

Sammy: “Hell yeah, let’s do it.”

Right after the promo was done. It became official. Chris Jericho will face Sammy Guevara in singles action at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on Wednesday, September 20th in New York City.
