Chris Jericho Dismisses Talk Of Retirement Tour

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has gone into detail about his feelings on retirement.

Retirement is the pro wrestling buzzword of the moment. In March, Sting finally hung up his boots after an extraordinary career, John Cena has confirmed he’s retiring in 2025, and Bryan Danielson could walk away within days.

Danielson has pledged to quit if he’s unable to beat Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at All In. However, even before the stipulation was made, the star said his full-time career would end before the end of the year.

Alongside Danielson in AEW is Chris Jericho, who is very much in the veteran stage of his career having debuted back in 1990. But in contrast to the American Dragon, Jericho has no desire to call it quits just yet.

In a new interview with TV Insider, it was put to Jericho that many of his contemporaries are retiring, but he denied the changes have an impact on his own plans.

“It doesn’t change my perspective at all because Bryan was out for nine years. He couldn’t work. John hasn’t worked regularly at about the same time. Bryan has been incredible since he came back from his injuries. He is one of the greatest wrestlers in the world and of all time. If he wants to step back, he’ll do that.

John is the same thing. One of the greatest of all time. He went to Hollywood and became a huge success and wants to come back and put an exclamation point on his career. To me, I don’t see the point for me. That’s just me.”

To back up his point, Jericho highlighted all of the major rock bands of the 70s and 80s who retired, only to continue performing.

Chris Jericho To Walk Away When The Time Is Right

Continuing on, Chris Jericho said that he has no plans for a retirement tour or big retirement match, instead, he’ll just walk away. The veteran added that he continues to live in the moment and enjoys what he’s doing, and until that changes he sees no reason to stop.

“When that time comes, I don’t want a retirement tour I think. I don’t need a big retirement match. I’ll just stop. Maybe I’ll feel differently when it comes to that, but I also have other things. I have Fozzy where I get the live element form as well. I have the podcast, cruise, acting. I have other stuff going on and have walked away from wrestling a couple of times. We’ll see what happens.

Sting’s retirement was one of the greatest moments of all time. I think Cena doing a farewell tour is awesome and people know these are the dates to see him. John is very driven that way. He’ll be done when he says he is done and never come back.

Bryan already said he would never retire. You won’t see him as a full-time wrestler, but you’ll see him in a ring for a long time. Everyone is different. For me, I just live in the moment and enjoy going to work every week and doing cool sh*t. As long as I feel that way, I will continue doing so.”

At All In, Jericho will put the FTW Title on the line against Hook. If the second-generation star loses, he won’t be able to challenge for the gold again while Jericho is the champion.
