Chris Jericho Explains Importance Of Creating New Fans
Chris Jericho has underlined the importance of constantly creating new fans.
The evergreen 53 year-old AEW star has earnt himself a reputation of consistently reinventing his character during a near 35-year career and believes that it helps to attract new fans to wrestling.
The former AEW World Champion continues to have an adoring global following to this day and is set to headline a sold out CMLL 91 Aniversario with a bout against Mistico on 13th September. The Canadian star will be competing in his first arena match in Mexico since 1995.
Jericho highlighted the importance of enticing new fans to the business during a recent appearance on CMLL Informa, before speaking about his excitement for his big return to Mexico:
“It’s something I’ve done very well my whole career. Obviously, I have fans from 30 years ago, I have fans from ten years ago, I have fans from now. That’s how you continue to have longevity in this business is by creating new fans.
It’s great to have people who have been with me for decades, but it’s also great to create new fans in 2024, and this match [against Mistico] continues to do that.
It’s a great main event with two guys who have huge fan bases, and two guys who are known as a few of the best wrestlers to have ever been in the ring. That’s what’s called a dream match, and that’s what I’m excited about.”

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho has competed against the very best in the business during his three and a half decades in the ring, with the likes of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, The Rock and Kurt Angle amongst his big name former rivals.
Despite being content with his impressive list of opponents, Jericho recently revealed a number of legends that he wishes he could have competed against.
