Chris Jericho Has Contacted WWE As Return Moves Closer

Chris Jericho looks to be closing in on a return to WWE.

Throughout August, there’s been growing speculation that Chris Jericho could return to WWE when his AEW contract runs out. The veteran is expected to become a free agent in December 2025.

At least in theory, this would leave the way clear for Jericho to make a surprise return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in early 2026.

There might not have been discussions about the star in WWE creative meetings as yet, but several WWE Superstars reportedly want Chris Jericho back in the company.

The veteran hasn’t appeared on AEW television since walking out on The Learning Tree back in April.

A further report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now suggested that Jericho has reached out to WWE to gauge interest about a potential return when his AEW deal expires. Johnson backed up reports that there’s been a lot of talk within the company about a possible return for the veteran.

Tony Khan Would Love Chris Jericho Back

As speculation continues to mount, Tony Khan has been asked about Chris Jericho’s status and whether there are plans for him to return to AEW.

In response, Khan said he would love to bring Jericho back to television and work with him in the future, while praising the veteran for his impact on the promotion. Despite those, and other positive comments, the AEW boss declined to confirm whether Jericho would continue to be All Elite.

Some fans have suggested that this is further proof that Jericho will be heading to WWE.
