Chris Jericho Can’t Believe WWE Let Star Go

Chris Jericho AEW

Chris Jericho is delighted a former WWE star landed in AEW.

At All In, Swerve Strickland will defend the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson. If the American Dragon is unable to claim the gold, he’ll be forced to hang up his boots for good.

Strickland has been reveling in his role as World Champion since winning the gold at Dynasty, growing in stature with every passing week.

The star has come a long way since being released by WWE in November 2021 when he was part of Hit Row on SmackDown. Although the company has since made an attempt to re-sign him, he’s pinned his colours to the AEW mast.

In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Chris Jericho — who is no stranger to WWE or jumping between companies, said Strickland is excelling as World Champion.

“This is only his first time as champ and look what he’s doing,” said Jericho. “Wait until the second time and the third time and the fourth time. He has star written all over him.”

Jericho added that he couldn’t believe WWE let Strickland go.

“I don’t know how you could ever let that guy go. Swerve and MJF are two guys I watch and always think, ‘How did he pull that off?’

Chris Jericho Hits Back At Critics

Back in April, Jericho dubbed himself “The Learning Tree,” recruiting Big Bill and Bryan Keith to help his cause. The character has drawn a great deal of criticism online, something Jericho has simply leaned into it and made it part of the character.

Speaking elsewhere, Chris Jericho fired back at his critics, claiming the gimmick delivers every time it appears on television.

Although there’s yet to be an official announcement, it’s believed Jericho will face Hook at All In.
