Chris Jericho Confirms AEW Status Amid WWE Return Rumors

Chris Jericho

The absent former AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, has addressed his status with the company.

Chris Jericho set social media ablaze by posting a photo with his former WWE ally and rival, Kevin Owens, while the two men attended a recent Tampa Bay Lightning NHL game.

While Jericho has been away from AEW since April, there have been rumors that the former 6-time WWE World Champion and first-ever AEW World Champion could return “home” to WWE when his AEW deal expires at the end of the year.

Regarding a potential WWE return, it has been reported that Chris Jericho’s comeback would include a match at WrestleMania and a Hall of Fame induction.

Jericho will be 55 years old in early November, so while he is still in great shape, he can’t wrestle forever, and may feel like retiring in WWE is the right spot for him.

Chris Jericho Mentions AEW And WWE In Recent Interview

During a recent interview on TNT Sports, Chris Jericho mentioned AEW and WWE storyliens while referring to AEW as the compnay he works for.

“It’s hard to say, but I had a ladder match with Shawn Michaels and that one was a really great kind of culmination to the good guy and bad guy dynamic. And then in AEW, where I work now, we got this guy Jon Moxley, he’s a little bit off his rocker. I’d say he’s kind of like the Mark Messier of pro wrestling to where you never really know what he’s going to do and he’s got his death stare and we always end up cut open and bleeding.

But you know, it’s going to be exciting and physical and people are into it and that’s—that makes it more fun because like you guys said, when you’re playing 80 games a year, it’s a little bit of a grind. But if you have a certain Boston tonight, oh, this is going to be a—that’s the same deal with wrestling as well, rivalries in hockey.” (h/t Ringsidenews)

AEW’s Owner Tony Khan has said he wants to have Chris Jericho back, but it’s not known if Jericho is interested in returning or going back to WWE for a final run.
