Chris Jericho Facing AEW Star At DDT Pro Wrestling Event In Japan

Chris Jericho is going back to Japan to face one of AEW’s biggest rising stars at an upcoming DDT Pro wrestling event.

Chris Jericho has had a rough time in terms of friendships. Don Callis turned on him recently and so did Sammy Guevara after Jericho beat Sammy clean on AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday. And now Jericho is looking for revenge against Callis and “family.”

A Japanese wrestling promotion called DDT was running an event earlier today called “Who’s Gonna Top?” On the show, AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita, who is also a top star in DDT, defeated MAO in a singles match. Don Callis was there with Takeshita when suddenly they were interrupted by a video.

It was a video featuring Chris Jericho challenging Konosuke Takeshita to a match at DDT Ultimate Party on November 12th.

“Takeshita! Congratulations on your big victory tonight Takeshita. You looked good as always. Everybody says you’re one of the best pro wrestlers in the world, well Chris Jericho is one of the greatest of all time. And Takeshita, not once but twice in AEW you attacked me with the chair, with Don Callis, and I’m done!

“I will have revenge on you Takeshita. I have worked in Japan for over 30 years and you can ask Onita, you can ask Tenryu, Inoki-san, Chono, Okada, Naito, ask them all who one of the best to ever come to Japan is, it’s Chris Jericho.

“So at the Ultimate Party 2023, Ryugoku Sumo Arena, November 12th, it’s Takeshita vs. Chris Jericho, I challenge you Takeshita and I’m going to teach you a lesson. Takeshita, you are a bakayaro [stupid idiot], I’m gonna prove it on November 12th. See you there.”

The challenge was immediately accepted by Takeshita, who said that not only would he beat Jericho, but he’d also “destroy everything about him.”

Chris Jericho and Konosuke Takeshita will be on opposite teams at AEW WrestleDream

At the AEW WrestleDream PPV in Seattle on October 1st, Chris Jericho will be in the match against Konosuke Takeshita, except it’s going to be a six-man tag team match.

Now that Jericho is a babyface in AEW after four years, he gets to face some different opponents and team with different people too. At WrestleDream, Jericho will team with former rival Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi against Konosuke Takeshita, Will Ospreay (who defeated Jericho at All In) and Sammy Guevara, who is Jericho’s former friend.

The match was announced by AEW’s CEO & GM Tony Khan during last night’s episode of AEW Collision.
