Chelsea Green Wants to Host “Divas Only” Open Challenge

Chelsea Green Womens US Title WWE

Chelsea Green has expressed her desire to begin a ‘Divas Only’ invitational challenge.

WWE first referred to their female Superstars as ‘Divas’ during the mid-1990s and it is a label that would be carried until the company officially retired the WWE Divas Championship on 3rd April 2016. At this time they opted to revert the coveted strap back to the original WWE Women’s Championship name.

The title had been known as the WWE Divas Championship since 6th June 2008 and had been held by a number of the industry’s top female talent during the time including the likes of Nikki Bella, Beth Phoenix, Paige and the inaugural holder, Michelle McCool.

Many of those legendary names now find themselves in the WWE Hall Of Fame and could be potential opponents for the recently crowned first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion, Chelsea Green.

Green made history when lifting the brand new title after defeating Michin at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2024 and recently floated the idea of a Divas Open Challenge during a chat with Whitty Whittier:

“I would love to be like the Diva killer. I mean, I would love an open challenge Divas only.

I’ll invite Maryse. I already put it out there into the universe. I will invite Nikki, I will invite Brie, I will invite any Diva that wants to come and attempt to take my beautiful, shiny piece of jewellery away from me.”

Chelsea Green Praised By WWE Hall Of Famer

Chelsea Green has won plaudits from fans and fellow Superstars in recent months for a string of consistently entertaining performances that ultimately led to her lifting the WWE Women’s United States Championship.

One man to share his thoughts on Green in recent times is legendary WWE Hall Of Famer, Booker T. The former WWE Champion heaped praise on Green during a recent edition of his Hall of Fame podcast:

“She deserves it. It goes back to that saying, do the job, and do the job to the best of your ability until something else comes along. That’s what Chelsea’s been doing.

She’s just been going out, doing the job every single night, to the best of her ability, win or lose. It hasn’t been about that. It’s been about her going out and performing at the highest level she possibly could every single night.”
