Chelsea Green One Step Closer To WWE Title

Chelsea Green is moving on in WWE’s tournament to crown the first Women’s US Champion.

A 12-woman tournament began earlier this month after WWE announced the brand-new Women’s US Title. That Women’s US Title is the first singles title available for women’s wrestlers on the main roster other than the WWE Women’s Title on Smackdown and the Women’s World Title on Raw. It is something that many women have wanted for a long time, so it’s finally here.

Bayley was the first woman to advance to the US Women’s Title tournament semifinals after defeating Candice LeRae & B-Fab in a triple threat match.

On WWE SmackDown in Salt Lake City, Chelsea Green won a triple threat match featuring Women’s Tag Team Champion Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport. Belair was in control of the match until a video was shown of her tag team partner Jade Cargill laid out on the hood of a car. Belair ran to the back and accompanied Cargill to the hospital.

With Belair gone, Green managed to finish off Davenport with an Unprettier. During the match, Green also used the Rough Ryder leg lariat move that her husband Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder in WWE) made famous.

The crowd in Salt Lake City was firmly behind Green, who has been a heel for most of her WWE run. However, she has gained a following due to her unique character and fun interactions with fans on social media.

Chelsea Green will move on to the semifinals of the tournament to face former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley.

Booker T Praises Chelsea Green

A lot of people have been praising Chelsea Green of late, including WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. Recently, Booker compared Green to future WWE Hall of Famer The Miz for her ability to make the most out of what she is given.

“She’s like The Miz, a female version. She’s all about getting the script, and going out there and enhancing the script and that’s what I talk about all of the time with these young guys.

“Don’t give me the idea, take the idea, take the script, and enhance it. That’s how you become the one that they know they can count on in any situation. But if you go about talking about what you got, you can tick somebody off and end up getting fired. Honestly, Chelsea Green, everybody can take notes from Chelsea Green.

In addition to Bayley and Chelsea Green, a third woman has advanced to the semifinals of the Women’s US Title tournament since WWE taped the November 29th episode of Smackdown after this week’s show.
