Chelsea Green Left “Heartbroken” By WWE Creative Change

WWE star Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green feared she’d missed her big moment.

After returning to WWE at the 2023 Royal Rumble, Chelsea Green has earned praise far and wide for making the most of any opportunity that came her way. In fact, in the eyes of fans, she’s turned nothing into something on more than one occasion.

Green’s tenacity has endeared her to fans around the world, and WWE’s fanbase was collectively delighted when she became the first-ever Women’s United States Champion.

In the culmination of the tournament across several episodes of SmackDown, Green beat Michin to become champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14, 2024. However, that wasn’t the original plan.

Chelsea Green Missed Big Moment

During a new interview with Click and Tell, Green revealed that she was initially supposed to win the title two weeks earlier at Survivor Series. Crucially for the star, Survivor Series took place just down the road from her hometown, meaning all of her family would be in attendance.

Green explained that she was heartbroken by the late change, adding that all of her family was still at the event, even though she wasn’t on the card.

“Originally, it was supposed to be in Vancouver (at Survivor Series 2024). That was obviously going to be, I mean, for so many different reasons, the biggest moment of my career.

It was already going to be the biggest moment, but to have my friends and family there and for it to be in somewhat of my hometown, close enough to my hometown, like that’s unheard of. People don’t get those moments.”

So, when it was taken away from me, I was heartbroken. I still had all my friends and family at Survivor Series, but I wasn’t on the show. So it was really a moment of just like, ‘oh, like how?’ And it put a little bit of a damper on it until I found out it was going to be in Long Island. That is my husband’s hometown.

So if it couldn’t be in my hometown, at least it’s in Long Island. It’s with all of my in-laws. Everyone in my family ended up flying there anyway. And it was just like the perfect moment. The crowd was amazing. They were chanting my name the entire time from start to finish. I was able to have all my family come back and take pictures with it.”

Green made the most recent defence of her title against Sol Ruca on the March 18 edition of NXT.
