Charlotte Flair Comments On Sasha Banks And Naomi Leaving WWE
Charlotte Flair has addressed Sasha Banks & Naomi leaving WWE and said that she feels like she will get to wrestle them again.
The former Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Naomi chose to walk out of WWE prior to the May 16th edition of Raw due to being unhappy with the creative direction of the Women’s Tag Team Titles among other things.
Since Banks & Naomi left in May, a lot of things in WWE have changed including CEO/Chairman Vince McMahon retiring in July amid investigations into payments to multiple women that went unreported for years. In his place, Stephanie McMahon became Chairwoman of WWE along with Co-CEO of WWE with Nick Khan. There was a creative change as well since Triple H is now the Head of WWE Creative and also running Talent Relations.
It was on August 1 when it was reported that Banks & Naomi are expected to return to WWE at some point in the near future. No specific date has been mentioned.
While appearing on a new episode of Broken Skull Sessions with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Flair was asked about Banks & Naomi leaving WWE. Flair admitted she didn’t know what happened, but believes she will be wrestling them again some day.
“One, I haven’t been there, because I left after (WrestleMania) Backlash. I know what it’s like to jump on social media and read these headlines that are so far from the truth. I don’t know what happened. What I can say is, I can’t imagine never wrestling Sasha again. That would be hard for me to compartmentalize. We started together. She’s my Ricky Steamboat, my dad always tells her that.”
“With Trin [Naomi], we just had a hell of a match on SmackDown and I’m like, ‘Oh, there is unfinished business there’ because of circumstances and storylines and whatever, we just, ‘here, you two wrestle.’ For me, I just can’t imagine not working with them. In terms of what they’re going through, it’s not my place to speak on behalf of the company or them because I’m not there right now.”
Charlotte has been off WWE since losing the Smackdown Women’s Title to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash in May. The storyline explanation for her absence was that Rousey injured her arm. In reality, Charlotte got married to AEW’s Andrade El Idolo and taken a break from her busy WWE career.
