Rumor Killer On WWE Storyline For Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair didn’t appear at WWE Money in the Bank although there were rumors about a potential role she would have had at the event.
There were two championship matches on the June 30th edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown in London, England. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens retained the WWE Tag Team Titles in their match against Pretty Deadly while Asuka defended the WWE Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair.
That match between Charlotte Flair and Asuka ended in controversy because Bianca Belair was watching from the front row. As Flair went for a running kick on Belair, the heel Asuka pulled Belair in front of her and kicked Belair. Moments later, Belair attacked Asuka on the floor, which the referee saw, so Asuka won the match by disqualification.
Since her championship match was ruined by Belair, Flair didn’t like it and she got in Belair’s face about it. Belair avoided a charging Flair, who went crashing into the steel steps. Belair managed to dominate both women by giving Asuka a KOD slam onto the commentary table. Belair also gave the KOD slam to Flair onto Asuka on the table. The table didn’t break as Belair stood tall.
The next night, July 1st, was Money in the Bank also in London with the Women’s Money in the Bank match taking place. While there were rumors of Charlotte Flair possibly being added to the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, it didn’t happen. There was no sign of “The Queen” at the show.
As for Charlotte Flair’s future, the plan for SummerSlam is for Asuka to defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Belair and Flair in what should be a spectacular triple threat match.
It was reported by Fightful Select that they didn’t hear about a plan to have Flair in the Women’s Money in the Bank match. They reported that there wasn’t “serious consideration” for Flair to be part of the match.
In addition to that, Fightful was told that the creative plan for Charlotte Flair was to be involved with Asuka and Bianca Belair, which was set before Flair returned to television last month. The plan was to re-establish Asuka the WWE Women’s Champion and have her be chased by two top women like Belair & Flair to add more intrigue to the title reign.
The Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match was won by IYO SKY after she handcuffed Becky Lynch and Bayley together and climbed the ladder to retrieve the briefcase. SKY can now cash in the Money in the Bank contract on any Women’s Champion at any time.
