Charlotte Flair Is Ready To Alter WWE Character
Charlotte Flair plans to make changes to her on-screen presentation on WWE television.
After missing more than a year of action due to a serious knee injury that required surgery and a lengthy rehab, Charlotte Flair won the Women’s Royal Rumble match for the second time in her legendary career.
That title win by Flair led to her WrestleMania 41 match against Tiffany Stratton. It’s a feud that was anticipated by some fans, but it went “off the rails” during some awkward promo exchanges when the two women tried to make things personal to build interest in their match.
Flair made fun of Stratton’s squeaky voice, so Stratton blasted Flair in return by mentioning that Flair was alone outside the ring. Stratton also claimed that Flair was 0-3, which was a reference to Flair’s three divorces. When Stratton felt she had said enough, she left the ring, so Flair decided to get in a final word, claiming that Stratton’s boyfriend Ludwig Kaiser was in Flair’s DMs (direct messages).
Their match at WrestleMania 41 was a physical one, with Stratton beating her wrestling idol to keep her WWE Women’s Title. While it was a competitive match, it likely won’t be remembered as a classic as Flair’s past WrestleMania matches against Rhea Ripley, Asuka, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks.
While speaking to People, Charlotte Flair discussed her recent public comments about her “embarrassing” divorce from WWE Superstar Andrade, which became a news item in February, despite the couple having been divorced in late 2024.
“I think a weight has been lifted off my shoulders because ‘Charlotte’ had to be so perfect and pristine all the time and people couldn’t separate the character and who I am in real life.”
Charlotte Flair Wants To Make Changes In WWE
On the SmackDown after WrestleMania, Tiffany Stratton faced Jade Cargill in a match, and then Stratton was attacked by former Women’s Champion Nia Jax. Flair didn’t appear on the show, so it looks like she’s out of the title picture for now.
Charlotte Flair went on to tell People about her desire to become a more relatable character in WWE.
“On the opposite side of WrestleMania, I think I will tap more into that and kind of try to bring me — Ashley, the real person — to Charlotte, because I do feel like Charlotte really isn’t, the character I made is not relatable.
If I could be ‘Charlotte’ in my real life, I would. In reality, if I wasn’t here right now, I’d be in sweats watching old episodes of Sex and the City. But no, I feel like at this stage in my career I’d like to pull the curtain back a little bit and show them like, hey I’ve been this hardcore, dominant b—- for however many years. But I’d like to also be able to high-five the kids as I walk down the aisle.”
During her WWE career, Charlotte Flair has won a record 14 Women’s Titles in WWE on the main roster, and she held the NXT Women’s Championship twice as well. She’ll likely keep the Women’s Title record for many years while she continues to chase the 17 World Titles won by John Cena, who broke the record that he had shared with Charlotte’s father, Ric Flair.
