It’s been a strange journey for Charlotte Flair.

After missing the entirety of 2024 with a serious knee injury, Charlotte Flair returned to win the 2025 women’s Royal Rumble match.

That victory set up what proved to be a controversial rivalry and defeat to Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania 41. Following that loss, Flair opened up about her real-life personal struggles away from the ring and began a partnership with Alexa Bliss, which has allowed her to show fans more of her real character.

Flair was most recently in action at Survivor Series, where she teamed with Bliss, AJ Lee, Rhea Ripley, and Iyo Sky to beat Becky Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend inside WarGames.

During an appearance on the Survivor Series: WarGames Recap podcast, Flair looked back on a difficult 2025 and the importance of her friendship with Bliss.

“Yeah, I think — (John) Cena pulled me aside after WrestleMania and was like, ‘You don’t have to be perfect all the time,’ and then, I wrote The Players’ Tribune piece…

For so long, I felt all this pressure of always having to be perfect, and wanting to be perfect. When I truly realized after everything I just kind of been through and in front of the audience, I feel like I always had to be indestructible when really, like, getting to know my flaws and my insecurities…

Who Ashley is as a person allowed me to connect with them and all those things that I was scared of of them knowing, or failing or not being good enough or my age or whatever it is, I was like, ‘You know what? This is me.’

I don’t know, it was like, what made me special were all those things that I’ve been through and letting the audience see that, and they’ve just been on this rollercoaster with me and then getting to pair with Lexi (Alexa Bliss) and kind of bringing me back, like, a softer side and having an on-camera friendship… I’ve been a solo act for so long, and I felt like was a bigger moment for me than Rumble…

I’ve won the title how many times? But that felt special and organic and no one had that on their bingo card, and it’s been awesome being able to let go of the pressure and just enjoy the WWE universe. Being like, hey, I grew up in front of you guys, I love you guys. I want to enjoy this as much as you do. So maybe I won’t try to be — being perfect isn’t cool. It took me a long time to learn that.”

Charlotte Flair Facing Uncertain Future

During the same conversation, Charlotte Flair admitted she doesn’t know what’s coming next as attention turns to WrestleMania 42. The star explained that, unlike in the past, she hasn’t got a specific goal in mind, and instead is trying to embrace the journey.

Despite her uncertainty and doubts around her championship prospects, Flair denied that she’d lost any motivation.
