Charlotte Flair Had Surprising Issue At WWE Royal Rumble
Charlotte Flair was triumphant at the WWE Royal Rumble even though she had to deal with something unexpected during the match.
The Women’s Royal Rumble match opened the 2025 Royal Rumble event from Indianapolis and it was Charlotte Flair winning the second Rumble match of her illustrious career. It was Flair’s first match since December 2023 when she tore her left ACL, MCL, and meniscus during a match, so it was a triumphant victory after missing 13 months of action.
As the 27th entrant in the Women’s Rumble, Flair lasted 15:04 in the match. The final three were Flair, Nia Jax, and Roxanne Perez.
With three women left in the match, Perez hit a chop block to Flair’s left knee which was surgically repaired. Jax went for a running attack, but Flair avoided it. Jax lifted up Perez to the apron and Flair dumped Jax over the top to the floor. Perez was on the apron, she hit Flair with a shoulder tackle and Flair hit Perez with a big boot to eliminate Perez from the match. That’s how Flair got the win.
By winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match, Flair will get to challenge for the WWE Women’s Title or Women’s World Title at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas on April 19th and 20th.
Charlotte Flair Had Trouble Taking Her Robe Off
The entrance of Charlotte Flair in the Women’s Royal Rumble took a long time and part of the reason for that is because she had an issue taking her robe off on her way to the ring.
While speaking at the WWE Royal Rumble post-show press conference, Flair spoke about the robe issue and her return to the ring after missing a year of action.
“I really don’t want to break down. This was the longest I’ve been away from you guys, the fans, since I started in 2012. I got into this business because of my little brother. When my knee injury happened in December and it took me out, I just kept thinking, ‘I can’t go out this way,’ and it made me realize how far I’ve come, and I was doing it because of him.
Seeing all the fans keeping up with all of my injury updates throughout the year with rehab, ‘We miss you, Charlotte. We love you, Charlotte.’ As a performer, sometimes you feel like, ‘Do I still have it? What am I coming back to do? I’ve done it all.’ Coming back tonight and winning the Rumble two times, no, I’m coming back to do it all over again. That’s how hungry I am.
A little secret: when I came out, I couldn’t get my robe off. I was like, ‘Good thing I remembered how to wrestle because I can’t get this robe off, it had been so long.’ It felt great.”
Nothing is confirmed yet, but before the Royal Rumble, the rumor was that Charlotte Flair would challenge WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania 41. It’s not official yet, but that could be what happens. Tune in to WWE programming to find out.
