Charlotte Flair Dismisses Speculation On Future As She Closes On History
Charlotte Flair isn’t going anywhere.
At WrestleMania 41, Charlotte Flair will challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship after earning her shot by winning the Royal Rumble back in February.
The victory was a major milestone for Flair who missed the entirety of 2024 after suffering a major knee injury in a match with Asuka on SmackDown in December 2023.
Should Flair beat Stratton she’ll inch ever closer to the record of 16 World Title wins set by her father. Although it’s widely believed Ric won World Championship gold on several more occasions, WWE only officially recognises 16 title reigns.
In a new interview with The Independent, Flair dismissed the idea that she could begin to take a step back now the record is within her sights. The star added that title matches are “in her DNA.”
“I don’t plan on slowing down, that’s not why I came back. I haven’t held that title. It’s still something new, and so is [the Women’s World Title]. I was the inaugural Raw Women’s Champion, so these titles match my DNA. Every time one of those is raised… [it affects me], but I haven’t held those two.”
Charlotte Flair Sends Message To John Cena
During the same conversation, Charlotte Flair hit back at John Cena after he threw shade at her father on the March 24 edition of Raw. In a promo segment where he tried to lay down his newly-found heel-ish motivations, Cena said he plans to erase the Flair name by claiming his 17th World Championship.
Cena and The Nature Boy have been tied on 16 World Title reigns since 2017.
In response to the promo from Cena, Charlotte said it’s impossible to erase her dad or the Flair name from history.
