Charlotte Flair Breaks Silence On John Cena Breaking Ric Flair’s Record

Charlotte Flair on commentary WWE SmackDown

Charlotte Flair recently shared her thoughts on John Cena’s record title win.

Cena beat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 to win the WWE Championship for the 17th time, surpassing Ric Flair’s 16 title reigns.

Charlotte herself is a 14-time women’s champion and could overtake her father’s record.

The former women’s champion spoke to The Takedown on SI, claiming she harbored no ill feelings towards Cena, but only respect.

Records are meant to be broken. I don’t wanna speak for my dad, but I think in this case I can, John was the guy to do it. And I think he couldn’t be more proud of John. Even me seeing John Cena and what he means to the industry and what he means to me as a performer, I don’t think it was sad. The record stood the test of time for a very long time and it was finally broken.

At the same event, Charlotte challenged Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s Championship, but it ended in a losing cause for her.
