Changes Coming To WWE Hall Of Fame

WWE Hall of Fame WrestleMania 39

The WWE Hall of Fame is set for an update.

With WrestleMania season looming ever larger, speculation is already underway about the Hall of Fame class of 2024. The ceremony is set to take place in its now traditional slot after SmackDown the night before WrestleMania 40.

The class of 2023 was headlined by Rey Mysterio, while Stacy Keibler, The Great Muta, and Andy Kaufman were also inducted with Tim White given the Warrior Award.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that for the first time ever, Vince McMahon won’t be in charge of the inductions.

“Regarding the Hall of Fame, this year will fall under Levesque for the first time instead of McMahon. It’s likely still the same basic rules regarding women, minorities and characters that the audience would know and those who make sense politically for a variety of reasons.”

Meltzer added that while Nick Khan could influence the list of inductees, the ceremony is treated as “creative” and therefore under the control of Triple H.

“I think Levesque may be a little more open to certain types since he was a fan of more than just WWE but once WWE owned the tape libraries a lot of that stigma was gone. I was told that, for example, if there is a political reason to put someone in that Nick Khan would want, that would be a factor but the Hall of Fame is under creative and that’s Levesque’s department and he’d in theory sign off on everyone.”

Who Will Be Inducted Into The WWE Hall Of Fame?

While there is no word on who will be inducted into the class of 2024, Booker T believes Ken Shamrock deserves a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame.

The former UFC star was the third man in the ring for the legendary WrestleMania 13 match between Bret Hart and Steve Austin, before going on to become a WWE regular for the next two years. During this period, Shamrock squared off against the likes of The Rock, The Undertaker, and Owen Hart, while winning the Intercontinental Title, Tag Team Titles, and King of the Ring tournament.

A huge number of fans are also calling for Bray Wyatt to be inducted following his untimely passing in August. Meanwhile, the ceremony could also have an ECW flavour given that WrestleMania is taking place in Philadelphia.
