Current Champion Pushes For WWE SmackDown Star To Retire John Cena
A rising star from SmackDown has been suggested as John Cena’s final WWE opponent.
There are only a handful of dates left in the John Cena retirement tour. Throughout the year, numerous names have been suggested as the final opponent of the record-breaking 17-time WWE World Champion, who has made it clear that he will be retiring at the end of 2025.
Some people have suggested an opponent familiar to Cena as the last one, while others want to see a new opponent. There are also those who want to see a rising star defeat John Cena, so it’s something they can brag about for years to come.
The only thing we know for sure is that John Cena’s final WWE match is scheduled to take place on December 13th during a Saturday Night’s Main Event special in Washington, DC.
Kelani Jordan is on the WWE NXT brand as the TNA Knockouts Champion. When Jordan was on Busted Open Radio, she suggested that her fiancé, SmackDown’s Carmelo Hayes, be the guy to beat Cena in his last match.
“So, I’m biased, so of course I’m going to pick Carmelo Hayes. I think he [John Cena] should lose his last match.
If he were able to wrestle, say like Melo, he can be able to put him over, and, like, jumpstart his career more than it already is because being able to beat someone like John Cena, your credibility and equitability goes all the way up.”
Ric Flair Has Advice For John Cena
When Ric Flair retired as a WWE superstar in 2008, he lost his final match to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24. However, Flair didn’t stay retired, as he left WWE and wrestled several matches for TNA, among other places.
A difference between Flair and Cena is that Flair claimed he needed the money due to his multiple divorces and other financial issues, while Cena is doing very well financially, so he’ll likely be able to walk away without concern.
During a recent interview, Flair advised Cena to stay away from pro wrestling after he retires.
“John is making so damn much money in the movies right now. He doesn’t need to do anything else. I hope that he’ll walk away and stay away. Wrestling is very addictive. When you’ve done it as long as John has, over 20 years, it’s hard to change your way of life.
I see John periodically, but I can’t say enough nice things about John Cena. He’s a wonderful person, and he is very happily married; his wife is lovely. They’re building a new home here in Tampa.”
John Cena’s next match will be next Saturday, October 11th, at WWE Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, when he faces AJ Styles for perhaps the final time. Here’s the lineup.
- Men’s Crown Jewel Championship: Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins
- Women’s Crown Jewel Championship: WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton vs. Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer
- John Cena vs. AJ Styles
- Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky vs. Kabuki Warriors – Asuka & Kairi Sane
