Ex-Champion Open To In-Ring Return 20 Years After WWE Exit
3-time WWE Hardcore Champion Maven says he’d like to return to the ring.
Maven started his wrestling career by winning the inaugural season of WWE’s Tough Enough in 2001. He made a splash early by winning the WWF Hardcore Championship, even defeating The Undertaker for the title.
Despite these highlights, Maven struggled to fully develop his in-ring skills to the company’s expectations. Over time, his pushes slowed, and he had several low-profile feuds. Ultimately, WWE released him on July 5, 2005.
After leaving WWE, he had some stints with TNA and on the independent circuit, but mostly stepped away from full-time wrestling by 2007. He came back in 2015 and wrestled a few matches in the indies, but is now retired.
Ex-WWE star Maven Hasn’t Closed The Door On An In-Ring Return
Maven is now a YouTuber and has found tremendous success in the content creation business. But when asked about an in-ring return 20 years after leaving WWE, he stated that he’s still open to the idea. Speaking on Mic Check with Mr. Anderson, Maven revealed that he’d return to any wrestling company that’s willing to hire him.
I mean, I’ve learned in this business, never say never. So, I would obviously. Yes, I would listen to any phone call. My drop kick’s more of a naval kick these days, but age wins.
Yeah. Like money, age wins. But the wrestling business is something that, unfortunately, like life, you learn how to do when it’s too late. You know, it’s like, you know, youth truly is wasted on the young.
Like, and I would give anything to take the mind I have now and go back and put it in younger me’s body. But yeah, I mean, I would shoot, I still watch stuff and think, man, I can do that. Yeah. Yeah, I can do that. (From 51:08)
