Champagne Championship Celebration Announced For AEW Full Gear

AEW Full Gear

Mariah May will be celebrating at AEW Full Gear.

On the November 16th episode of Collision, Mariah May put her AEW Women’s Title on the line against Anna Jay. The match, the third of their trilogy, came with the stipulation that if Jay failed to win, she would be unable to challenge for the gold again while May is champion.

The No DQ match saw both women use a variety of weapons but in the end, it was May who retained her title.

Elsewhere, Mina Shirakawa made her AEW in-ring return with a win over Harley Cameron. It was then announced that May and Shirakawa would hold a “champagne championship celebration” at Full Gear. The pair regularly teamed together in Japan, although their friendship was tested when May turned her back on Toni Storm in the summer.

Toni Storm To Make AEW Return?

It’s been rumoured that Toni Storm will make her return at the event as she bids to get revenge on May. Storm hasn’t been seen on AEW television since losing the Women’s World Title to the British star at All In. However, recent vignettes have hinted that a comeback could be imminent.

Despite the hiatus, Storm has kept herself busy, wrestling in Japan and more recently in CMLL in Mexico.

On February 15th, 2025, AEW will head to Australia for the first time, and the New Zealand-born Storm is expected to be heavily involved.

Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone recently hinted that she would like a shot at Mariah May, after talking up the champion during an interview. At Full Gear, Mone will defend her TNS Title against Kris Statlander.
