Carmelo Hayes applies submission to Andrade

Carmelo Hayes thinks he would have learned a lot from one WWE legend.

After signing with WWE in early 2021, Carmelo Hayes’ career has gone from strength to strength. The star initially excelled in NXT winning the Cruiserweight Title, North American Title, and NXT Title before moving to SmackDown as part of the Draft in 2024.

Since moving to the main roster, Hayes has taken part in King of the Ring, and the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match. Although he’s been unsuccessful in his quest for gold thus far, many are tipping Hayes to become one of WWE’s main players in the years to come.

Carmelo Hayes Reveals Dream Opponent

Speaking to IGN ahead of SummerSlam 2024, Hayes said he would have loved to have faced Eddie Guerrero at the summer spectacular. The former NXT man pointed to how generous Guerrero was in guiding up-and-coming wrestlers, believing he could have learned a lot from the WWE Hall of Famer.

“I think Eddie Guerrero man. He’s one of those guys like I truly believe if he was still around, he’d be helping coach the younger generation.

I just think he had so much knowledge to give and I love talking to guys that got work with Eddie. Finding out like ‘Oh what he was like? What did you learn from Eddie?’ and they’ll all tell you something that’s really good, really knowledgeable. That’s a guy that I’d love to get in the ring with for sure.”

Eddie Guerrero was involved in one of the more famous SummerSlam matches of all time in 2005 where he lost to long-time friend Rey Mysterio in a Ladder Match for custody of a young Dominik Mysterio.
