Carmelo Hayes is the new WWE United States Champion, and his girlfriend has shared her thoughts on X/Twitter

The December 26th episode of SmackDown Saw Carmelo Hayes in a high-stakes, high-energy match against Ilja Dragunov for the WWE United States Championship

Dragunov set the match up himself, as he didn’t like the way his previous title bout with Hayes had ended due to interference from Tommaso Ciampa. He declared that he would no longer have his “open challenge” for the US title after this night and challenged Hayes for the US title on the show.

Dragunov’s explosive offence contrasted Hayes’ slick timing and agility-driven offence in what turned out to be a scintillating contest. Hayes managed to secure the pinfall after landing both his signature moves in succession: the “First 48” and “Nothin’ But Net”, becoming the new WWE United States Champion.

Dragunov, in a torch-pass moment, wrapped the title belt around Melo’s waist.
