Carmelo Hayes Breaks Silence After Shock NXT Attack

Carmelo Hayes WWE NXT

Carmelo Hayes finally fulfilled many NXT fans’ fears as he turned his back on his long-time friend Trick Williams.

Tension has been building between Hayes and Williams for months as Carmelo Hayes went from being NXT Champion to losing that gold and seeing his friend and tag team partner move into position for shots at the gold.

At NXT Vengeance Day, Williams and Hayes took part in the final of the Dusty Classic against Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker. Ultimately Breakker picked up the win for his team after decimating Hayes with a wicked spear. Bron Breakker looks set for an imminent call-up to the WWE main roster after this victory.

Later in the night, Williams attempted to win the NXT Title from Ilja Dragunov but was unsuccessful. Carmelo Hayes came down to the ring to commiserate with his partner as the credit graphic was shown on the screen. However, the night was not over.

Carmelo Hayes Takes A Chair To Trick Williams

Hayes clipped Williams’ knee before going to town on him with a steel chair before referees could get him to stop the assault.

In an exclusive video released by WWE, Carmelo Hayes gave a chilling, one-word response to what had transpired as he simply said “whooped” as he referenced Williams’ “whoop that trick” catchphrase.

Where the ultimate showdown between Hayes and Williams takes place remains to be seen but after a few matches on SmackDown, it seems that Hayes’ WWE future lies on the blue brand.
