Captain Insano Makes AEW Dynamite Debut [Video]

Paul Wight Captain Insano

At long last, Paul Wight’s alter ego Captain Insano appeared on AEW Dynamite!

Paul Wight has taken on many guises during his wrestling career, from his time as The Giant in WCW to his long tenure as the Big Show in WWE and more recently as ‘No More BS’ Paul Wight in AEW.

However, one of his more short-lived gimmicks saw him portray Captain Insano in the cult classic 1998 comedy The Waterboy. The character was the wrestling hero of the film’s protagonist, Bobby Boucher, played by Adam Sandler. In the film, Sandler’s character is mocked when he calls into a live interview segment with Insano.

Back in March, Wight confirmed that AEW now had the rights to use the character, and speculation began running wild as to when the Waterboy’s hero would be making his AEW debut. Wight himself confirmed back in July that Insano would be coming to AEW as the film’s creators had agreed, and the wait to see the iconic character was finally over as of the November 16th episode of AEW Dynamite.

The episode saw AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed debut a music video that began with the team interviewing Insano about showing no mercy to the Ass Boys, Colten and Austin Gunn. The video continued with a phone call from two performers parodying Swerve Scott and Keith Lee as they called into the interview show, calling back to Insano mocking Sandler’s character in The Waterboy. Insano, Caster, and Bowens laughed at the phone call, saying there was a 0% chance that Swerve In Our Glory defeats The Acclaimed at Full Gear.

Continuing, the music video continued throwing barbs at Swerve in Our Glory ahead of their Full Gear clash. The full video can be viewed below.

After the video aired on AEW Dynamite, Anthony Bowens took to social media to post a photo of himself and Max Caster scissoring with Captain Insano.
