Canadian WWE Fans Boo US National Anthem At Elimination Chamber

Logan Paul holds American flag at WWE Elimination Chamber

Canadian WWE fans had no interest in hearing the American national anthem.

On March 1, WWE headed to Toronto, Canada for Elimination Chamber. With plenty of Canadian talent on the card, including Toronto’s own Trish Stratus, the hometown fans had plenty to cheer, but first there were some boos to get out of the way.

As is tradition, in the moments before the show began, the US national anthem “The Star Spangled Banner” was performed, with Elizabeth Irving on singing duties. However, the anthem was met with a huge chorus of boos the crowd packed into the Rogers Centre.

In recent weeks, political tensions between the United States and Canada have increased significantly, with Donald Trump claiming he wants to make Canada part of the US. The American President has also proposed trade tariffs between the two nations, which has seen some Canadians boycott American products.

Throughout the broadcast, Pat McAfee made it clear he was annoyed at the situation, making several references to the booing.

WWE Elimination Chamber Packed With Surprises

Once the show got underway, Bianca Belair and John Cena booked their shots at World Title glory via wins inside the famous structure.

The women’s chamber match opened the night and featured the stunning return of Jade Cargill, who delivered a violent assault on Naomi. Cargill had been out of action since November after being attacked by a mystery assailant on SmackDown.

In her absence, Naomi stepped up to team with Bianca Belair.

Meanwhile, by the time the show went off the air, John Cena had won the men’s Elimination Chamber match, Cody Rhodes had told The Rock to go f*ck himself, and Cena had left Rhodes a bloody mess at the behest of The Great One.

The vicious beatdown on Rhodes hammered down one of the most surprising heel turns in WWE history.
