Bryan Danielson Doesn’t Know Why Top AEW Star Is Absent From Continental Classic
Bryan Danielson wanted one of AEW’s biggest stars in Continental Classic and admits he doesn’t know why they are absent from it.
The AEW Continental Classic tournament has dominated the company’s television shows as they head towards the finals at the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 30.
While the 12-man tournament may have sounded complicated to some people at first, it has been executed masterfully so far.
On AEW Dynamite, they air matches featuring the Gold League bracket where Jon Moxley & Swerve Strickland are at the top of the standings with 3-0 records. Meanwhile, AEW Collision has featured Blue League bracket matches where Brody King has a 2-0 record.
Bryan Danielson is a part of the tournament in the Blue League bracket. Danielson wasn’t able to wrestle on the first since he’s dealing with a broken orbital bone injury, but Danielson has returned to action and wrestled with an eye patch over the left side of his face.
What Top AEW Star Did Bryan Danielson Want In The Continental Classic?
It is well known at this point that Danielson is considered a friend of AEW’s Owner Tony Khan while also having some influence on the on-screen AEW product, as well as having some roles behind the scenes.
During an interview with Alex McCarthy of the Daily Mail, Bryan Danielson mentioned that he wanted former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in the tournament and he’s not really sure why Omega is out of it.
“I really wanted Kenny Omega in it and I don’t know. People think I do a lot more than I do. I don’t know what happened or why he’s not in the tournament.”
“I know it was at least brought up to him and I don’t know if he didn’t want to do it or I know that he and Chris Jericho are the number one contenders for the Tag Team Championship. So maybe that’s why.”
‘And sometimes, you know, with American TV wrestling. You don’t want to confuse stories, and maybe that’s why.
