Bryan Danielson Is The GOAT Says Surprising AEW Star

Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson’s time as a full-time pro wrestler is coming to an end and now he’s been lauded as the greatest of all time by a surprising AEW star.

Bryan Danielson has been open about his full-time days as a wrestler coming to an end with The American Dragon recently revealing the end date of his AEW contract as an in-ring competitor.

However, there might be one final chapter to write in Danielson’s illustrious career as he won the men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament which for the first time in 2024 guaranteed that he’d receive an AEW World Championship shot at All In.

Swerve Strickland Warns Bryan Danielson Ahead Of All In

Speaking to Sports Illustrated ahead of that match, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland gave his thoughts on the match and admitted he’s about to get in the ring at Wembley Stadium with the greatest to ever do it:

Bryan’s not just experienced, he’s the greatest of all time. That’s who I’m going up against–a first-ballot Hall of Famer. I’ve never faced anyone like him. But he’s never faced anyone like me.

I’m so proud of what we’re doing for the Pacific Northwest. We’re both from Washington. There’s me and Darby, and I know the people from DEFY are proud of that, and Bryan Danielson, who has been doing it at a high level a lot longer than us. Now we’re main-eventing one of the bigger shows of the year. There is a lot of Pacific Northwest pride going into that.

Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland have clashed once before on Dynamite back in October 2023 with Danielson coming out on top. But Strickland has warned, he’s an entirely different animal now:

Bryan told me I’m a special breed of talent. I’m also a special breed of danger. I know we wrestled before, but he’s never faced me like this. Bryan is facing me after my Texas Deathmatch against Hangman Page. He’s facing me after I beat Will Ospreay and Christian Cage and Samoa Joe. I’m a different beast. I can’t wait for him to see it.

Danielson has been told not to wrestle until All In by doctors as injury issues continue to dog Bryan Danielson years after he returned to wrestling following a medically-induced retirement.
