Bryan Danielson Confirms Role In CM Punk’s AEW Firing

CM Punk Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson is part of AEW’s disciplinary committee and he had a part to play in CM Punk being fired from the company.

CM Punk was very publicly fired by AEW following his part in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In. Punk was back in the news less than three months after that when he made his shock return to WWE at Survivor Series.

Following his WWE comeback, Fightful reported that Bryan Danielson was part of the three-person disciplinary committee that decided Punk had to go in AEW with Danielson taking to social media to send a message which was reportedly the same one he told the stars and staff of AEW when discussing Punk’s exit.

Bryan Danielson Speaks On AEW Disciplinary Role

Speaking on Maggie & Perloff, Bryan Danielson said all he could about being part of that disciplinary committee and admitted CM Punk’s firing was decided by more than just three people:

Yeah, I’m a part of the disciplinary committee. Clearly, what happened has happened. I’m somebody who, I like CM Punk, I think he brought a lot to AEW while he was there. There is not a lot I can say about it, or that I want to say about it. I am part of it.

It’s really funny, you know how the internet is. Some people say I was the head of the disciplinary committee. There were more than three people involved in this decision, but most of them were all lawyers. To say that I was the head, I don’t even have a college degree [laughs]. I’m not in there bossing people around. I am part of the disciplinary committee.

Danielson was asked if Punk’s firing was a difficult decision and he admitted it was and that Punk had done a great job for the company and he wishes him nothing but the best for his WWE career:

Absolutely. As somebody who…I have a lot of empathy. I’m grateful for the time he was able to spend in AEW. He did a great job for us. I wish him the best in his future and I hope his run there goes well.

Bryan Danielson will return to action on the 2nd of December edition of AEW Collision when he gets his Continental Classic underway as he takes on Eddie Kingston in the Blue League.
