Bryan Danielson Reveals If He’s Able To Wrestle For AEW

Bryan Danielson AEW

Bryan Danielson hasn’t wrestled since losing the AEW World Title in October 2024.

Going into 2024, it was well known that it would be the final year of Bryan Danielson’s career as an active wrestler. Danielson conducted numerous interviews, making it clear that he planned to retire, as his AEW contract, which he had signed three years earlier, was set to expire.

Danielson would go on to win the AEW World Title for the first and only time at All In London when he beat Swerve Strickland in a Title vs. Career Match.

The AEW World Title reign of Danielson didn’t last very long because he dropped the title after just 48 days to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream in October 2024. Moxley used to be an ally of Danielson’s, but Moxley formed a new group known as The Death Riders, and Moxley defeated Daniels to win the AEW World Title for a record fourth time.

Regarding a possible return to the ring, Danielson told Daly Migs that he’s not cleared to wrestle.

“I don’t know, but right now, I’m not cleared to wrestle. Even if I wanted to, if I said, ‘Hey, I’m going to be there.’ I will be there in Kent. I will be there live in front of the people, but probably not on television. It’ll just be for the people there live.”

In an interview a few months ago, Bryan Danielson said he suffered a serious neck injury during one of his final matches, and it’s something that has bothered him.

Tony Khan Calls Bryan Danielson A Great Leader For AEW

Even though Danielson hasn’t wrestled since WrestleDream in October 2024, he continues to work for AEW behind the scenes.

AEW Owner and Head of Creative Tony Khan spoke about Bryan Danielson’s role in the company.

“I still work with Bryan Danielson. He’s still a big part of my office. He’s not on the show, and he’s been injured and maybe retired for good, but he’s never said he’s done for good, and I hope that there’s some possibility he will be able to return to wrestling from the injuries and the way he left, but he’s still a part of AEW, so I’m still very fortunate to work with Bryan.

I talk to Bryan almost every day. He’s got a great mind for wrestling, and he’s somebody that I’m really pleased and blessed came into AEW and got involved with us. He’s a great person in and out of the ring, and he’s a great leader in AEW.”

After spending more than a decade in WWE, Bryan Danielson fully supports AEW now and wonders if they should attack WWE a bit more as a company.
