Bryan Danielson Reveals Bizarre Reason For Using Entrance Song

Bryan Danielson has opened up about why he chose “The Final Countdown” as his wrestling song many years ago.

The main event of AEW All In was billed as “The Final Countdown” match as Swerve Strickland defended the World Title while Bryan Danielson put his career on the line. Since it was a Title vs. Career match, the name was fitting since Danielson was putting so much on the line.

During his entrance, Bryan Danielson walked out to “The Final Countdown” song by the band Europe, which is a classic song that was released way back in 1986. It’s a song that Bryan used in his Ring of Honor days before he was in WWE in the 2000s decade.

At the AEW All In post-show press conference, Bryan Danielson was asked why he chose to use “The Final Countdown” in the first place.

“Honestly, I chose it as a joke. I was going to Japan a lot and I would pick up music magazines at the airport. They used to have these lists of best songs. They had the 100 worst songs of all time. I think number one was Final Countdown. I was going through and, I hate to say this, illegally downloading them on Napster. ‘Oh, I love this song.’ If it wasn’t number one (worst), it was top ten.”

“I was like, ‘This would be awesome entrance music.’ I do a lot of things to entertain myself. I never thought it would catch on in Ring of Honor, let alone that 20 years later, I’d be doing it in front of 50,000-plus people and singing along. I don’t know if anybody has shown this to Europe. If you could, maybe they might bring down the price. It might get us a couple of buys.”

That bit about the “price” at the end is a reference to AEW boss Tony Khan having to pay the band Europe to use the “Final Countdown” song.

It’s a song that brought Bryan good fortune because he would go on to win the AEW World Title at All In London in front of 50,000+ fans in Wembley Stadium.

Bryan Danielson Calls AEW World Title Win His Favorite Moment In Pro Wrestling

The AEW All In match was extra special for Bryan Danielson because he had his wife Brie along with daughter Birdie and son Buddy at ringside to support him. After the match, he said their presence made that his favorite moment as a professional wrestler.

“I feel pretty great. People ask me all the time what my favorite moment is in wrestling, and I can never give them one answer because I’ve loved all of it. But this is the first time she [Birdie] remembers seeing me wrestle live. This is the first time my son’s seen me wrestle live. And without a doubt, this was my favorite moment in my entire career.”

As for what’s next, Danielson has confirmed he’ll be on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday to address his pro wrestling future.
