Bryan Danielson Given New Full-Time Role In AEW

Bryan Danielson AEW

Bryan Danielson continues to work for AEW while taking on a full-time role without bumping in the ring.

It was in October 2024 at the WrestleDream PPV when Bryan Danielson lost the AEW World Title to Jon Moxley. That was the last professional wrestling match that Danielson had.

Throughout 2024, Danielson made it clear that he was retiring as a full-time wrestler due to his serious neck issues.

Despite retiring as a wrestler, Bryan Danielson has continued to work behind the scenes in AEW as a consultant due in part to his close friendship with AEW’s owner/GM/booker, Tony Khan.

At the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door PPV in London, Bryan Danielson was on commentary for most of the show, and he did a great job. It’s a role he had in WWE for the Cruiserweight Classic when he wasn’t cleared to wrestle.

It’s also going to be Danielson’s full-time role in AEW, according to Tony Khan. On X/Twitter, Khan announced that starting this Wednesday, Danielson will be a full-time announcer on Dynamite.

Starting this Wednesday, @bryandanielson The American Dragon will join the Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite commentary team full-time!

Welcome back Bryan on Dynamite this Wednesday Night, + See you on @TNTdrama And/or HBO Max 8pm ET/7pm CT For Saturday Night #AEWCollision TONIGHT!!

The Dynamite commentary team has been Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone for most of the last six years. Tony Schiavone is also the play-by-play announcer on Collision, so if AEW were to remove somebody from Dynamite, it would most likely be Schiavone since he’s on Collision also.

Bryan Danielson Has Nothing Left On His Wrestling Bucket List

As a former WWE World Champion, AEW World Champion, ROH World Champion, and a guy who has main evented the company’s biggest shows like WrestleMania and All In, Bryan Danielson has truly done it all in pro wrestling.

Recently, Bryan Danielson looked back on his 20+ years in pro wrestling and made it clear that he’s fulfilled in his career because his bucket list is complete.

“There’s not a single thing. I’ve been very fortunate in my career to have some incredible moments and all that kind of stuff. And I think when I was forced to retire before, I wasn’t ready to be done.

With the last six months of my wrestling career, being in as much pain as I was, that kind of put me in this thing of like, ‘Okay, you know what? I think I’m ready to be done.’ And now I have—like when I was forced to retire before, I was married, but we didn’t have kids yet, right? And so it’s like, you go home and you have that full parenting life and all that kind of stuff. It’s a whole other thing, right?

So yeah, I’m very fulfilled by my career. I’m very fulfilled by my life right now. And I get to stay involved in professional wrestling, which is something that I still love to this day.”
