Bryan Danielson’s Injury Recovery Taking Different Path

Bryan Danielson AEW

Bryan Danielson is doing what he can to recover from a serious after losing the AEW World Title.

The main event of AEW’s biggest show of the year saw Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland to become the AEW World Champion at All In London. It was a match where Danielson also put his career on the line.

At AEW WrestleDream, Danielson’s World Title reign ended at just 48 days when he lost the championship to his former ally Jon Moxley, who is now the first four-time AEW World Champion in company history.

Throughout the year, Danielson made it clear this was likely his last year as a full-time pro wrestler. Bryan admitted earlier this year that his body is broken while specifically mentioning that he likely needs neck surgery.

“My body is broken down. The odds are I’m probably going to have to have neck surgery before the end of the year. I’ve got all of those kind of things. This pro wrestling thing, it’s been incredible and it’s hard to imagine my life without it for the past twenty five years but it’s a lot easier to imagine my life going forward without me wrestling.

It’s hard for me to imagine me keeping doing this, especially with the last year. I’ve had herniated discs in my back, tore the labrum in my shoulder, then I broke my arm which required nine screws, then I had two fractures in my orbital bone. I just recently hurt my neck really bad and that was in April, so it’s all of these things.”

When he’s away from the pro wrestling ring, Bryan and his wife WWE Hall of Famer Brie have a daughter named Birdie and a son named Buddy. Bryan’s family was ringside during his World Title win at All In London.

Bryan Danielson Taking Different Approach To Deal With Neck Injury

The neck injuries of Bryan Danielson are not a new thing. Fans of the former AEW & WWE World Champion know he’s dealt with those issues along with concussions, which kept him out of the ring for three years in the mid-2010s.

During a Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp said that Danielson wanted to avoid neck surgery. Instead, he’s going to try stem cell treatments that hopefully will help.

It was noted by Sapp that Danielson didn’t hide how banged up he was during the end of his full-time AEW run. The hope is that Danielson can avoid having surgery and just go with the rehab method instead.

While Danielson is considered a retired full-time wrestler, it is still likely that he will wrestle again on a part-time basis.
