Bryan Danielson Could Play Key Role In AEW Signing Ex-WWE Star

Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson’s influence backstage in AEW continues to grow.

Back in September, Mustafa Ali was released by WWE alongside the likes of Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, and a whole host of stars across Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. All of those released will be free to return to wrestling in December with the expiry of their non-compete clauses on the 21st.

This could spark some activity in the free agency with stars such as Dolph Ziggler tipped to move to AEW. Interestingly, Bryan Danielson’s growing influence backstage could be good news for another former WWE star, Mustafa Ali.

Danielson has never made a secret of his admiration of the star and Dave Meltzer suggested in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that this could work in Ali’s favour.

“Bryan Danielson, who has a lot of influence these days, was high on Ali who fits into the AEW style but there are so many you can say that about.”

Back in June, it was reported that Bryan Danielson holds more influence in AEW than people think, and he’s been heavily involved in creative for Collision.

Bryan Danielson Ignored Broken Bones To Continue Wrestling

The American Dragon is currently out of action after suffering a broken orbital bone. Despite this, he looks set for a showdown with Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom in January and is due to compete in the AEW Continental Classic.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Brie Garcia revealed that Bryan Danielson ignored his latest injury to keep working.
