Brody King Explains Why He Wore “Abolish ICE” T-Shirt On AEW TV

One AEW star has explained why they wore an “Abolish ICE” shirt on TV and whether they asked permission from the company to do so.

Brody King and Bandido have become one of the unlikelier teams to have caught fire in AEW in recent months. Brodido’s popularity with fans has been matched by their in-ring success, with the two stars making it to the final of a tournament to find the next number one contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championship.

The final of that tournament took place on Dynamite in Glasgow, Scotland, where Brodido clashed with FTR. A classic Dynamite match unfolded with the two teams competing to a thirty-minute draw. That meant both teams moved on to Forbidden Door, where they met the Hurt Syndicate with the AEW Tag Team Title on the line.

AEW’s Brody King Not Afraid To Get Political

At Forbidden Door in London, England, Brodido managed to take advantage of the Gates of Agony distracting the Hurt Syndicate to defeat FTR and become AEW Tag Team Champions.

After the show, Brody King spoke at the post-show media scrum, where he was asked about his “Abolish ICE” t-shirt he previously wore on AEW television and has since released. According to King, speaking out about his beliefs is something that’s nothing new to him:

I come from a very punk rock, hardcore background and that’s stuff is normal in our world. So speaking on injustices and whatever else is important to me. I appreciate that I work for a company that allows us to have our own voice, whether I ask for it or not.

Using your platform for good or just to help in any capacity is the right thing to do.

King wore the t-shirt at Grand Slam Mexico back in June, and by releasing a shirt sharing that sentiment for sale, raised over $27,000 for families affected by ICE raids.
