Brock Lesnar Says Business “Wouldn’t Be The Same” Without WWE Star
When Brock Lesnar burst onto the scene in 2002, the amateur wrestling standout was led to greatness by one man on WWE television and that man’s name was Paul Heyman.
Heyman accompanied Brock Lesnar as his advocate throughout his rise to the top of WWE and witnessed first-hand The Next Big Thing winning his first WWE Championship from The Rock at SummerSlam in 2002.
In 2012 when Brock Lesnar returned to WWE, it wasn’t long until Paul Heyman once again re-appeared and again found himself at ringside for a landmark moment when The Conqueror ended The Undertaker’s Streak at WrestleMania 30.
Speaking to Daniel Cormier for ESPN, Brock Lesnar heaped praise on the man he once called his advocate and says without Paul Heyman, the wrestling business just wouldn’t be the same:
“It’s been a crazy ride, too, when you think about it. I broke into this business with Paul Heyman as my mouthpiece. Here I am, 23 years later, and I’m carrying my own stick. So it’s crazy how things have evolved. Without Paul Heyman, this business wouldn’t be what it is. It truly wouldn’t, especially in the last year. Paul, behind the scenes, carries and does and wears a lot of hats for this company. He’s greatly respected and very appreciated.”
These days Paul Heyman is less of an advocate and more of a wise man but his role in WWE is no less diminished as he has carried the championship title belts out of three WrestleManias in a row as he stands with his Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.
