Brock Lesnar Walked Out Of WWE Confirms Paul Heyman

When Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE in July 2022, it shocked the wrestling world, including Brock Lesnar who walked out of that night’s SmackDown show before later being talked into coming back.

However, it’s not the first time that Lesnar has taken his ball and gone home as it was once infamously termed and now Paul Heyman has confirmed that The Beast Incarnate walked out on the company just a few weeks before he was scheduled to defend the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 31.

Speaking on the Out of Character podcast, Heyman recalled Lesnar walked out of Raw leaving his advocate to begin the main event build to WrestleMania with Lesnar’s opponent for the event, Roman Reigns:

“I was there for his (Roman Reigns’) first WrestleMania main event because it was against Brock Lesnar.

“I was there for the first promo he had to do about his first WrestleMania main event because it was the night after the blizzard and Brock and I came and I opened it up by shaking his hand and telling him that I’ve known your family longer than you’ve known your own family and then when we finally brought it out into the ring, Brock had walked out of WWE five weeks before WrestleMania and we were tasked with Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman in the ring talking about Roman Reigns’ first WrestleMania main event.

“Just the two of us, which history will now show, these parallels between these two men (Reigns & Cody Rhodes) that carry their family legacies, both from the past and into the future.

“Cody Rhodes’ first promo with somebody about his first WrestleMania main event was with me.”

The match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar did indeed take place at WrestleMania in 2015 but neither man emerged from the event as WWE Champion after Seth Rollins perpetrated the “heist of the century” and cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase during the match.

In 2022, Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar became the first match to main event three WrestleManias and proved to be the first time The Tribal Chief managed to get the better of his perennial rival on the grandest stage of them all.
