Brock Lesnar’s Squash Of John Cena On WWE Retirement Tour Possibly Explained
Brock Lesnar squashed John Cena at Wrestlepalooza 2025 when fans had hoped for The Champ to walk out as the winner.
However, the more shocking part was when Never Seen 17 did not address the defeat at the hands of The Beast even once for the remainder of the WWE Farewell Tour.
Fans wondered if Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena would happen once again during the retirement tour, but that does not seem to be the case at all. The Franchise Player will face Gunther in his final match on December 13th, 2025.
John Cena put over Brock Lesnar to prepare for 2026
2025 was John Cena’s year. 2026 will be Brock Lesnar’s. However, The Beast needed the push that would showcase him as the dominant superstar he is, and there was no one better than Cena.
On Notsam Wrestling, the wrestling analyst was asked about why Cena was squashed on ESPN’s first PLE since it looked like that happened only for Lesnar to be put over.
Sam Roberts claimed that the reasoning was exactly why Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena at Wrestlepalooza. In fact, every person who defeated Cena during the Farewell Tour has done so to be set up as the next face or the future of WWE.
I don’t know why you’re having a hard time with that. That literally, the sentence that you just said sounds like one of the more logical sentences ever. Cody beat John Cena. Why? So John Cena could pass the torch to Cody. Dominik Mysterio beat John Cena. Why? So that John Cena could put a young guy over and set him up for the future.
Brock Lesnar beat John Cena. Why? Because Brock Lesnar is going into 2026 an absolute monster for the WWE. I mean, it’s like, it’s as simple as anything can possibly be. And those names that I just listed, like John Cena got beat by Cody. There’s no sort of, oh, I gotta get one more match with Cody. John Cena got beat by Dominik. There’s no sort of, oh, I got to get one more match with Dominik.
Brock Lesnar has been advertised for WrestleMania 42.
