When Brock Lesnar showed up at ringside to attack Cody Rhodes on WWE Raw, the company had an interesting way of getting him down there without being noticed.

In the main event of WWE Backlash this past Saturday, Cody Rhodes faced Brock Lesnar in a match that was set up after Lesnar surprisingly attacked Cody on Raw about one month earlier.

The match between Cody and Brock was even for the most part with each man kicking out of finishing moves throughout the match. Things changed later when Cody sent Lesnar into the exposed steel turnbuckle, which led to Brock bleeding heavily from his forehead.

Brock Lesnar was able to come back from the bloody forehead to trap Cody in a Kimura Lock submission on the left arm. While Cody looked like he might tap out, instead he leaned forward, Lesnar held onto the submission and Cody covered Lesnar for the pinfall win.

On the May 8th WWE Monday Night Raw episode that followed Backlash, Cody Rhodes was in a triple threat match in the World Heavyweight Title tournament with The Miz & Finn Balor. Just as Cody looked like he was about to pin The Miz and win the match, Brock Lesnar showed up at ringside to pull Cody off the cover. Since there are no disqualifications in triple threat matches, the match kept going. Lesnar hit Cody with an F5 on the floor while Balor finished off Miz with the Coup de Grace to advance in the tournament.

After the match, Lesnar hit Cody with another F5 onto the commentary table. Lesnar, who had stitches in his forehead and a black eye on the left side, did a promo ranting about how he wants to have a fight with Cody at Night of Champions. Lesnar also shouted about Cody calling him a coward as well.

It has been reported by Fightful Select that Lesnar was disguised with two big stagehands to get him ringside. The pushed a trunk ringside to hide Lesnar from the crowd and get him there for the right spot in the match.

As for what’s next, Cody Rhodes will face Brock Lesnar at WWE Night of Champions on May 27th in what is being promoted as a “fight” at this point with perhaps a more specific name to come in the future.
