Brock Lesnar Paid Respects To Late Wrestling Icon At WrestleMania 39
Despite it being the grandest stage of them all, Brock Lesnar took the time out at WrestleMania to pay respects to a wrestling legend.
Antonio Inoki was the owner of New Japan Pro Wrestling, where ‘The Beast Incarnate’ spent two years and captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Inoki sadly passed away in October 2022, aged 79. This was also the night before NJPW Royal Quest in the United Kingdom, where tributes were led by Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Now, a report from Tokyo Sport has shed light on a touching tribute Brock Lesnar paid to Antonio Inoki at WrestleMania 39.
The report notes that someone close to Inoki was present at ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’, and Lesnar took the time out to talk to them about the legend, offering his condolences and listening to stories about his final days.
It is also reported that during this time Lesnar was approached by someone else, but ignored them in favor of continuing the discussion about Inoki.
At the event, Brock Lesnar would defeat ‘The Giant’ Omos in short order in the opening match of the second night. The night after on Monday Night Raw he would initially team with Cody Rhodes, before turning on ‘The American Nightmare’ and starting a feud which has led to two singles matches so far, with both men picking up on victory a piece.
