Brock Lesnar Bluntly Refused To Do WWE Spot With Shane McMahon
Brock Lesnar said no when Shane McMahon tried to pitch something in the Royal Rumble.
The last time Shane McMahon competed in a WWE ring was in the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble, which Brock Lesnar won.
It’s not a Royal Rumble match that is remembered for being great or memorable, but it is known for what happened backstage.
There were reports that Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton were among the big names who had issues with Shane McMahon’s behaviour backstage. Shane had ideas for the Rumble match that others hated, so it led to Shane having heat, and Vince McMahon cancelled plans for Shane because of it.
Matt Riddle was a big name on the WWE roster at the time, and there was even a point where he was rumored to win the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble.
While talking to TMZ Sports, Riddle spoke about Shane pitching an idea to Lesnar about the Rumble match, but “The Beast” Lesnar shut that down.
“They went a different route [from me winning], I believe Brock won. I’ll be honest, I remember being in the locker room because there’s a bunch of people, Shane McMahon, a bunch of people were there.
We had different ideas and plans and dude, [Brock] came in and was like, ‘I just did business for Bobby Lashley, you guys are all going to do business for me.’ Then, Shane McMahon mentioned and asked if he could pick him up for a spot and Brock just looked at him like, no.”
The “business” that Lesnar did for Lashley that night was lose the WWE Title to Lashley because of interference from Roman Reigns, which set up the Lesnar-Reigns WrestleMania match that year.
WWE Planning Brock Lesnar-John Cena Match To Go Against Upcoming AEW PPV
After two years away from the company, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam, where he attacked John Cena after Cena had lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes.
Lesnar was kept away from WWE since he was mentioned several times in the lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon. Grant claimed that McMahon sexually harassed her and used her for sexual trafficking purposes, specifically with Lesnar.
Although Lesnar isn’t charged in the lawsuit, his multiple mentions made WWE hesitant to use him. However, WWE’s legal team cleared Lesnar recently, which led to Brock’s return at SummerSlam.
As for when the Lesnar-Cena match will take place, it has been reported that WWE plans to do a PLE on September 20th with Lesnar-Cena as one of the main events on the show. That’s an interesting date for the PLE because it will be head-to-head against AEW All Out.
