Insight Into WWE Creative Plans For Brock Lesnar-Cody Rhodes Feud
Going into WrestleMania weekend, Brock Lesnar was cheered by the WWE Universe, but by the end of Monday’s Raw, he was a villain yet again.
At WrestleMania 39, Brock Lesnar led off Night Two on Sunday with a match against Omos. The story of the match saw Omos in control for most of it until Lesnar made the big comeback and hit an F5 on the 400+ pounder to pick up the victory.
On this past Monday’s April 3rd edition of Raw, Lesnar surprised a lot of people by volunteering to be Cody Rhodes’ tag team partner in a match against Roman Reigns & Omos. It was rare to see Reigns advertised for a match on Raw, and even more rare for Lesnar since he hasn’t wrestled on television since returning to WWE in 2012.
Just as it looked like the match began, Brock Lesnar attacked Cody Rhodes. Lesnar’s attack included multiple F5’s, suplexes, a chair attack and using the stairs as a weapon among other words. Lesnar left Cody lying and that’s how Raw ended.
It has been reported by Fightful Select that Lesnar is definitely sticking around in WWE. There were some adjustments to whatever Cody Rhodes’ other Raw plans were, but this was not an adjustment.
The report from Fightful noted that WWE had planned the Lesnar-Rhodes feud for a while, long before Vince McMahon got involved in the creative process. In addition, Lesnar knew about “his creative plans for after WrestleMania nearly a month ahead of time.”
There were also some subtle hints about Lesnar turning heel prior to WrestleMania because he backed out of the ring during some interactions with Omos. A heel backing away from a face is a typical move to get some heat in pro wrestling.
