Brock Lesnar Probably Asked One Key Question Before WWE Return
At SummerSlam 2025, WWE pulled off a huge surprise that no one could have expected. Triple H brought back The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, who had been absent since SummerSlam 2023.
After Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, the 17-time World Champion was left alone in the ring. Suddenly, Brock Lesnar’s entrance music hit. The crowd went wild as The Beast walked out and hit Cena with a devastating F5. This has potentially set up a rivalry between the two legends, ahead of Cena’s planned retirement.
On the following episode of Monday Night RAW (08/04), commentator Michael Cole revealed details from behind the scenes. He said he spoke with WWE President Nick Khan and Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who told him that they reached out to Brock several weeks ago and asked him to return home, to which Brock Lesnar agreed.
Brock Lesnar’s first reaction to Triple H and Nick Khan’s offer
On the Stevie Richards Show, Steve Richards discussed Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE. He stated that the first thing that Lesnar could have asked when Nick Khan and Triple H approached him with the deal was how much he would get paid to return to WWE.
Knowing what I know about Brock, I think the first answer to when they said, ‘We believe it’s time for you to come home.’ Brock said, ‘How much are you paying me?’ I know they sent him home with pay. He probably renegotiated this deal. He’s smart with that stuff, man. [3:06 – 3:23]
A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer stated that even though Brock Lesnar had not appeared in WWE for two years, he was still under contract and fully paid during his absence. WWE kept Lesnar sidelined because his name had popped up in the Vince McMahon sex trafficking lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
