Brock Lesnar Answers Cody Rhodes’ Challenge On WWE Raw

WrestleMania 39 should have been a night of celebration for Cody Rhodes but he ultimately failed to capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Title from Roman Reigns, and things got a lot worse on Raw thanks to Brock Lesnar.

Cody Rhodes had initially confronted Reigns again on the night after WrestleMania asking for a rematch, when that was turned down by Paul Heyman, a tag team bout was Rhodes’ consolation and he was as surprised as anyone when Brock Lesnar appeared to apparently be his partner to take on Reigns and the meddling Solo Sikoa.

However, Lesnar’s first Raw match in 21 years did not come to pass as before the bell rang he scooped up Rhodes and nailed him with an F-5. Lesnar then brutalized Rhodes for what seemed like forever, standing tall as the show went off the air.

Cody Rhodes had no choice but to lay down a challenge to Lesnar the following week for a match at Backlash and on Raw in North Little Rock, Arkansas, The American Nightmare got his answer, but not from Lesnar himself.

Instead, WWE official Adam Pearce was on hand to try and keep the peace, telling an irate Cody Rhodes that he couldn’t take his frustrations out on Lesnar with security on hand to keep the two men apart. That didn’t stop Rhodes from trying as he laid out security while Lesnar simply watched on with a smile on his face.

Pearce offered Rhodes the match he sought with Brock Lesnar to try and stop him from attacking the former WWE Champion and so it was made official, the two men will clash at Backlash in Puerto Rico on May 6th.
