Britt Baker Reflects On Nerve Wracking AEW Return
Britt Baker is glad to be back.
After being out of action since September 2023, Britt Baker returned to AEW at Forbidden Door to briefly confront Mercedes Mone. The star later revealed that she suffered a mini-stroke during her absence after initially dealing with a back injury.
On the July 24th episode of Dynamite, Baker made her long-awaited return to action, getting the better of Hikaru Shida. However, she wasn’t given much time to celebrate as she was attacked by the debuting Kamille at the behest of Mone.
Speaking to Ringside Collectibles, Baker admitted she was incredibly nervous ahead of the match, but she feels great coming out of it.
“So wait, I didn’t just have a return match. They threw me into the fire. They said, here, your first match back, you’re gonna wrestle the longest-reigning Women’s Champion ever, (Hikaru) Shida. So I was so nervous for that match and I am so sore today. I woke up and I was like, ‘Oh my God, my head hurts, my neck hurts, my back’ but, I miss that so much.
I missed the aches and pains and everything in-between and I mean, hey, that’s a hell of a win to start out off on is Shida. That’s no joke and every match with Shida is a battle so I’m happy I came out on top and I’m happy I’m standing today. Physically able to stand. It’s great.”
Britt Baker vs. Mercedes Mone Set
As the tension between them hits new heights, it’s been announced that Mercedes Mone will defend her TBS Title against Britt Baker at All In.
The announcement came in somewhat bizarre circumstances after the pair almost came to blows during a special AEW panel at San Diego ComicCon. As the bitter rivals were being pulled apart by security, AEW boss Tony Khan got on the microphone to confirm the match.
