Bret Hart’s Ex-WWE Rival Tipped For Hall Of Fame
A former rival of Bret Hart has been tipped for what would be a surprise induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, but under one strict condition.
Bret Hart tangled with many of WWE’s top stars during his time in the company. The Hitman’s matches with the likes of Roddy Piper, Mr Perfect, Owen Hart, and Steve Austin have stood the test of time.
Throughout the mid-nineties, Hart suffered a constant thorn in the side in the form of Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. Lawler introduced several new talents to try and take out Hart once and for all, and that began in 1993 when his own personal court jester, Doink the Clown, came on the scene.
Portrayed by Matt Borne initially, Doink was an evil clown, bringing misery wherever he went. Doink eventually turned into a beloved fan favourite with Borne eventually leaving WWE and the character continuing without him.
Although the character is not fondly remembered by some, there is at least one person who thinks Borne’s portrayal of a twisted clown belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Doink To Join Bret Hart In WWE Hall Of Fame?
Speaking on NotSam Wrestling, WWE broadcaster Sam Roberts explained why he wants to see Doink the Clown in the WWE Hall of Fame:
Doink should be in the Hall of Fame. I mean, without irony or funny funny, Doink should be in the Hall of Fame. It should be kind of acknowledged that it is the Matt Borne portrayal, and a relative of Matt Borne should accept the Hall of Fame nomination. Nobody else who portrayed Doink should get the Hall of Fame nomination.
