Bret Hart Says WWE Hall of Famer Did Not Have Any Genitals
Bret Hart shoots on the WCW team, roster, and one person specifically in a brutal shoot interview.
The WWE and WCW legend is known for never holding back during interviews while shooting on people and promotions he has worked with during his time as a wrestler.
The Hitman was a megastar in WWE in the 90s and had memorable feuds with the likes of Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hart was even responsible for putting Austin over at WrestleMania 13 despite winning a match against him. He is known as a passionate wrestler who takes the craft very seriously and is notably one of the best in-ring performers and entertainers.
Bret Hart’s WWE career came to a shocking halt after the infamous Montreal Screwjob incident in his hometown of Montreal, Canada, where Shawn Michaels was crowned new WWF (now WWE) champion after the two had a title match at Survivor Series 1997.
The original plan, as per Hart’s insistence, was for him to defeat Michaels and retain the belt in his hometown and later vacate it as he was to leave for rival promotion WCW the next day. Although unbeknownst to Bret Hart, Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels conspired against him behind his back with help from referee Earl Hebner, changing the finish and letting Michaels walk away with the gold.
This led to real-life animosity between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon, leading him to spit on the former CEO’s face and punch him backstage for real. His harried relationship with Michaels and McMahon has improved in the years since, but he is still bitter about the incident and also about what happened to him upon his arrival at WCW.
Bret Hart Slams WCW Show Runner And WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff, Claiming He Had No Genitals.
Bret Hart was extremely critical of WCW and how they treated him, especially Eric Bischoff, who was one of the showrunners, and Hulk Hogan, who was their biggest star and leader of the NWO faction, and also a powerful figure backstage who called the shots.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Hart had a lot to unpack. He began by talking about his arrival in WCW and how he thought Eric Bischoff was one of the “stupidest people in the world.”
When I think about it, I felt like I came in with so much momentum. Like—this is how stupid WCW was. Eric Bischoff, man, stupidest people in the world. I’m not kidding.
I beat Undertaker for the world title. Beat Steve Austin. I destroyed Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13. I won so many matches that year against all their top guys, and now you’ve got me in your company, working against them. Plus, I knocked out Vince McMahon. I came in with so much potential. It should have been me and Hulk Hogan right away. I think I should have beat him for the title, and they should have made me champion.
We could have wrestled a hundred times after that—me and Hulk Hogan—kept wrestling each other, doing all kinds of business, because it was there. And it was such a shame that they were so stupid.
The Hitman voiced his discontent clearly and honestly, revealing WCW would fly him over to a Nitro show and then not have him work or be on the card for the night, which he thought was idiotic. He also claimed that Hulk Hogan especially didn’t want WCW to do anything for Bret Hart.
I know from people who worked there, people who told me they were in the room when Eric Bischoff would say, ‘What are we going to do?’ This was like a TV room where they were mapping everything out. Different wrestlers were in there. And they’d come up to me later and tell me that every time my name came up, they’d say, ‘What are we going to do with Bret Hart this week?’
And then Hulk Hogan would go—well, I wasn’t there, so I don’t know exactly—but he would bury me, I guess. Because Hogan had so much clout with Bischoff, every week they’d just put a line through my name and I wouldn’t even work.
There were lots of times WCW flew me all the way down to wherever Nitro was. First-class plane ticket. First-class hotel. Lincoln Continental. All this money they were spending to get me there. Then I’d get to the building, wait around until five or six at night, and they’d tell me I was off. Then I’d go home the next day.
I remember thinking, what kind of idiot pays me all this money to bring me in and then leave me off the card when I had so much momentum? At that time, Steve Austin was going through the roof in WWF. And it’s like, remember me? I’m the guy that beat him. Why are you not doing anything with me?
That was the insanity of WCW. Eric Bischoff actually didn’t have any genitals, and Hulk Hogan was calling all the shots. For whatever reason, he made sure they didn’t do anything with me.
