Bret Hart Reflects On Recent Meeting With Triple H

Bret Hart

Bret Hart enjoyed his time on Raw.

On the September 9th episode of Raw in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Bret Hart made a special appearance where he was confronted by Gunther. During the exchange, Gunther told Hart that he was his second favourite wrestler behind Goldberg — a man who’s definitely not The Hitman’s second favourite wrestler.

The pair were then joined by Sami Zayn who tried to attack the World Champion, but they were pulled apart by security. The segment came to an end with Canadian legends standing tall with their hands raised in the ring.

WWE has now shared backstage footage from the show where Hart reflected on being back in Calgary and back in a WWE ring. The legend said he enjoyed getting to briefly be Bret “The Hitman” Hart once again.

“I didn’t just assume or take for granted that they were gonna invite me down tonight. Any time I get a chance to be in front of the Calgary fans because I think Calgary goes back the farthest to when I was 18, 19 years old wrestling. I mean it’s a very special, powerful building for me to walk in. A lot of memories here. A lot of great memories. A lot of title matches.

Even in the old Stampede Wrestling days, I had a lot of memories here. It’s kind of a funny feeling to walk down to the ring slowly and kind of pull yourself back to the ring and find yourself standing at the center talking to the fans.

I don’t know if I looked a little nervous. I’m not sure that I was. I think standing in the middle of the ring for a few seconds, this transformation takes place. I mean I think I transformed back into Bret “The Hitman” Hart for a minute for everyone and it was fun for me to do that. It was something that was magical that was brought out by the love of the fans.”

Bret Hart Says It Was A Pleasure To Meet Triple H

During the same video, Bret Hart said it’s always a pleasure to run into Triple H. The comments raised an eyebrow with many long-time fans given how critical Hart has been of The Game in the past, criticising him for not only his work as a performer but his conduct backstage in the 1990s when he and Shawn Michaels made life difficult for young talent such as The Rock.

“There’s not that many from my generation that are around anymore so running into Triple H is always a pleasure.”

Hart added that while there are a lot of cities he loves to work in, there’s no place like home.
