Bray Wyatt Was Reportedly “Being Difficult” Before WWE Release

Bray Wyatt cuts a promo

According to a new report, there were several reasons behind Bray Wyatt being released from WWE, including that he was “being difficult” and had “performance issues in the ring”.

Bray Wyatt being released from WWE on July 31st, 2021 after 11 years with the company was a shock to many, including wrestlers and fans alike. Wyatt gained popularity in the promotion both as the patriarch of The Wyatt Family and later as the demonic ‘Fiend’ character.

He had his last match in WWE at WrestleMania 37 against Randy Orton. It was a typically bizarre affair which ended when Alexa Bliss appeared out of a giant box at ringside and distracted the Fiend long enough to allow Orton to drop him with an RKO for the pinfall.

Bray Wyatt appeared once more the next night in the Firefly Funhouse saying he wanted a fresh start, but that was the last time he was seen on WWE TV.

Now, Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men podcast has reported that there were several issues that led to Wyatt’s departure.

“Bray was being difficult. I’m going to fill in a lot and I’m not going to quote here. I have the quote but I don’t want to quote it. He was a little difficult, he had some performance issues in the ring, and he had some weight issues.”

“I’m not saying that that’s a reason, but you kind of piece things together as to things when you evaluate a talent and you go OK, we need this and we need that and here’s the plan moving forward… You need someone, sometimes the decision is easier to make if you make it more difficult for them to make that decision.”

He went on to explain that, while financial issues were one factor, there was more to the situation.

“There’s so many different variables, and there was no one reason by the way. Financial, yes, there was a financial issue, [but] there were plenty of other scenarios here. I don’t think he was happy, and I would tell you that these decisions are not cut and dry. The whole thing of ‘It’s a money thing and that’s it.’”

“Obviously they are going to say that, that will be the public answer. Because most likely it did play a part with money because you can only like a guy so much when you are losing money. I’m not saying that they were losing money, but I am just putting it out there like that. There were numerous reasons, not one.”

Since his release, Bray Wyatt has been rumoured for a move to either IMPACT Wrestling or AEW, however, nothing has been confirmed as yet. On September 15th, he took to Twitter to tease that he would see us all “very soon”.
