Booker T Warns Adam Cole That Leaving WWE For AEW Is Not “Smart”

Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T is unequivocal about what he thinks Adam Cole should do next in his career after reports saying Cole only has weeks left of his WWE deal.

Former NXT Champion Adam Cole has reportedly been working with a short-term extension to his WWE contract which originally expired in July. In their most recent report regarding Cole’s contract status, Fightful Select has reported that Cole came to a verbal agreement with the company to continue before signing on the dotted line on a short extension that takes him through to SummerSlam weekend. SummerSlam this year is to be held on Saturday 21st of August with NXT TakeOver: 36 taking place on Sunday, the 22nd.

talkSPORT also reported that on the reason Cole chose to sign the extension, saying that Cole wants to put over his former partner in Undisputed Era, Kyle O’Reilly. Cole destroyed The Undisputed Era back in February and he and O’Reilly both hold one win over the other man.

Amidst the uncertainty, one man who worked in his fair share of wrestling companies has waded into the debate on his Hall Of Fame podcast. Five-time WCW Champion Booker T believes Adam Cole should stay exactly where he is:

“Adam Cole, one thing he needs to know, that AEW is going to be there for him. It’s going to be there. So, you better get what you need to get out of this (WWE) for as long as you possibly can, and then if something happens, you think about what comes next. You do the job to the best of your ability to do whatever comes next. If that’s his choice, that’s his choice. But I think Adam Cole worked a hell of a long time to get to that point and to just throw it all away because of what you hear on social media, I just don’t think that would be smart.”

The wrestling industry is awash with rumours of former WWE stars heading to All Elite Wrestling in the coming weeks. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and the former Ruby Riott have all been linked with the Jacksonville-based company to some degree. Those names could follow the signings of Christian Cage, Andrade El Idolo, and Malakai Black in swelling the ranks of the Elite roster.
